The Maker and Makerspace Group will meet quarterly, with each session focused on a specific piece of equipment or maker topic, along with additional general making discussions. Together, we’ll explore:
- Best practices for using equipment
- Creative and engaging program ideas
- Real-world successes (and lessons learned!)
- Open “show & tell” opportunities for projects and tools
- New Tech
- Share updates on your makerspace programs and changes
- Ask questions and collaborate on solving challenges
- Learn about future grant opportunities
- Learn from each other’s experiences across our Maricopa County.
Our meeting will include discussion topics, but I really want it to be organic so that ideas can be shared and attendees don’t feel they can't bring up a topic. A couple of weeks before each meeting, I will do a callout using the list serve to ask for discussion topics. We’ll do our best to fit in as much awesome as possible.
When are we meeting? I’ve spread out the locations across Maricopa County, and if any library is interested in hosting a future location, let me know. Thanks to the current locations for helping me out with the first year.
If your library is considering building a makerspace or launching a maker-focused program, this group is a great place to start. You’ll gain ideas, resources, and connections to help you plan, build, and grow with confidence.
If you know someone who should be on Making & Makerspace Interest Group listserv, just reply to this email Jeffrey.Stoffer@Mesaaz.gov, and I’ll add you to the list. Also, if you know someone who might be interested in joining, please forward this email their way.
